Personalized attention adapted to the sensitivity of each pet

Care in the grooming salon is very important, although for some dogs it can be very uncomfortable for several reasons.

It requires us to invade their privacy by having to touch sensitive areas such as hygienic areas, mouth, paws and feet.

Sometimes the simple fact of being placed on a table, in an unfamiliar environment, with noises, smells, and unknown people can be stressful. It can even be uncomfortable due to the state in which the puppy arrives, if it is very knotted or older it may be more sensitive than normal, due to pain or physical discomfort.

Not all dogs have the same sensitivity to stimuli, both because of their character and their origin (rescued dogs, for example, tend to have bad life experiences prior to their adoption, often unknown, so they can be more sensitive and fearful).

Some dogs are more used than others to contact with people, being in new places, being separated from their owners, etc. depending on what they have become accustomed to as a child. This will influence their behavior in the hairdresser.

We always recommend that grooming sessions be started as early as possible, as the younger the dog, the more easily it will process the experience, get used to it, and find it less uncomfortable to go to the groomer. It is also very important to get him used to contact at home, with regular brushing, touching his paws, brushing his teeth, cleaning his eyes, etc. In this way, in addition to keeping your dog healthy and comfortable, you will get him used to handling and contact, making it a more pleasant experience.

For all these reasons, at Chuchos Chic we serve the dogs one by one.

Unless they are from the same house, in which case they can be together in the groomer’s, but the service will still be carried out one by one, as we focus all our attention on the well-being and comfort of the dog during the grooming sessions. In this way, stimuli are reduced (they are not distracted or bothered by other dogs they do not know, less barking, more calm).

We adapt the times of each session to the needs of each dog. Some tolerate manipulation very well, or they come frequently and are already confident, in addition to having the coat well cared for and maintained, so the sessions are faster.

But if the dog gets stressed, becomes aggressive, is very afraid, comes with a very knotted coat and requires more care when cutting/brushing, etc. the sessions will be longer, because we have to leave time and space for the pet so that the experience is not so traumatic, and throughout the sessions, you can get used to it and increase your tolerance to hairdressing. This is very important, because a dog needs care throughout its life, and forcing it, blocking it, making it rise to a stress level above what it can tolerate and cannot calm down, will make each session more difficult and traumatic, ending up in not being able to take it to the groomer anymore or handle it at home. it can result in health problems of your skin and/or hair.

At Chuchos Chic we always prioritize long-term well-being and health, so we do not “sneak” appointments, we respect the space and time of each one, we adapt to each puppy and circumstances, and we will advise you in the best possible way so that the care of your pet’s hair and health throughout its life is possible.
